Grade four music students at Rockford Elementary School for the Arts created tableaus or "frozen images" re-creating the history of "The Star Spangled Banner." Tableau is a drama technique that can be used to tell stories using just their bodies as people or objects. Students were placed into groups and worked as teams to share their understanding of the story of the battle during the War of 1812. The story concludes with Francis Scott Key watching over Fort McHenry to see if the flag was still there and writing the words to our national anthem.
