Funding for magnet curriculum and programming is allocated by local, state, and federal education money and grants. Northwest Suburban Integration School District's magnet school program serves Pre-Kinder through grade 12 students throughout the seven-member consortium.  Students are eligible to apply to any of the magnet schools if they live within the school districts of Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center, Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose, ISD 728 Elk River Area, Fridley, Osseo, and Rockford.

Through the NWSISD magnet school program, member districts develop, design, and implement innovative educational methods and practices that promote diversity and increase parental and student choices among and within the collaborative.

NWSISD offers magnet schools in three strands:  International Baccalaureate (IB), Visual, Performing, Literary, and New Media Arts (Arts), and Science, Technology, Engineering, (Arts), and Mathematics (STEM/STEAM).

Magnet Schools

Magnet schools are public schools of choice, offering comprehensive, high-quality, thematic curriculum intended to "attract" diverse learners.  Students who live outside a magnet school's attendance zone and demonstrate interest in the school's theme can apply for an opportunity to enroll in the magnet program.
